I was born and raised in Norfolk, Va. My father was a sailor in WWII. We moved to Miami in 1952. In 1964, I joined the USAF and was a Security Police K9 handler. I was posted in Yokoda Air Base in Japan but traveled all over the far east on security missions. I landed permanently in Pleiku, Vietnam in late 1966 and stayed there until Aug 1968 when I returned home. Our mission in Vietnam was to patrol the outer perimeter of the air base to catch infiltrators. In my almost 2 years there we did not have a single infiltration get past our dogs. I returned home in Sept 1968 and did a short stint with the Miami Dade Police before I realized that police work was not for me. The riots that burned down most of Liberty City confirmed that. I went to work for AT&T and have been there for 39 years. |
